Dr Yvonne van der Veek
BVSc MANZCVS (VetECC)
After graduating from her veterinary degree from The University of Utrecht in 2000, Dr Yvonne Van Der Veek worked in general practice for 7 years before venturing into Critical Care and Emergency Medicine. After working at the Veterinary Specialist Centre (VSC) and the Small Animal Specialist Hospital (SASH) she now works at Northside Emergency Veterinary Service (NEVS) and Animal Referral Hospital, Gosford.
She passed her ANZCVS memberships in Emergency and Critical Care in 2009. Yvonne has a great deal of experience with emergencies and became a qualified RECOVER CPR trainer in September 2017. She has a passion for teaching Emergency Medicine, CPR and promoting the RECOVER guidelines.
Dr Lucy Kirton
BVetMed MANZCVS (VetECC and SA Rad) MRCVS
Dr Lucy Kirton graduated from the Royal Veterinary College, London in 2004. She worked in mixed, then small animal general practice around the United Kingdom until coming to Australia in 2011. Her interest in emergency medicine, including ventilation, started while working on the northern beaches looking after tick paralysis patients. She started at the Small Animal Specialist Hospital (SASH) in 2013 as an emergency veterinarian, and moved to Northside Emergency Veterinary Service (NEVS) in 2016 where she still works.
She passed her ANZCVS memberships in Emergency and Critical Care in 2014 and Small Animal Radiology in 2024. She was a membership examiner for ECC in 2017 and 2018 and became a qualified RECOVER CPR trainer in September 2017.
